The map loads OpenStreetMap tiles on this page only. 71 of the guide's places have a checked position; the ones missing are missing because we could not find a reliable coordinate and would rather not place them wrongly.

The list

The same places, as text

This list is what actually holds the page up: it works without JavaScript, a screen reader reads it and a search engine indexes it. The map sits on top.

13 entries still have no coordinate. They are not hidden: geocoding did not return a point we were willing to trust and we would rather not place them wrongly. They still link to a name-and-address search, which is what actually navigates. And of those that are placed, many eateries sit on their street rather than their doorway, because the municipal directory publishes the address but not an exact map point.

Where this map comes from

Checked coordinates, not estimated

Positions come from Nominatim, OpenStreetMap's geocoder, and every query was validated against the municipality it had to return. Anything that did not match was left out rather than placed by eye.

The kilometres and minutes were computed with OSRM over that same data, from Plaza de la Constitución in Icod to each point. Not from the house's front door: Finca Julia's exact address is not published, and claiming door-to-door precision would mean inventing it.

The map tiles are served by OpenStreetMap and are requested on this page only. No other page on the site loads a map: we do not want every page telling a third party that someone is reading it.
