01 — The house

It had this name long before it was a place to stay

It is not a villa built to be let. You notice it in the proportions, in the thickness of the walls, in joinery nobody would make today, and in a garden that has fruit trees instead of lawn. It sleeps four, and the central terrace is, in practice, the most used room.

02 — Inside

Wood, clay, stone

Nothing here is a simulation. The pine of the beams, the ceramic floors and the volcanic stone of the walls are the materials the north of Tenerife was built with — and they are, with nothing added, this house's art direction.

03 — Outside

The terrace is the house

A central terrace with loungers, a patio, an outdoor shower and fruit trees all around. Breakfast happens outside, you come back from the sea or the hills in the afternoon, and you have dinner watching the Atlantic go out. There is not much more to do, and that is the point.

04 — Where it is

In northern Tenerife, inside the landscape of Icod

Icod sits halfway up the slope, between the sea and the summit: twenty minutes takes you from the black sand of San Marcos to the pine woods, and Europe's largest lava tube is in the same municipality as the house.

05 — Icod de los Vinos

A thousand-year-old dragon tree, a listed old town and a volcano from the inside

The municipality holds the largest known dragon tree, an old town listed as a cultural heritage site, and the largest lava tube in Europe. And it is surnamed "de los Vinos" after its own wine denomination.

The other Tenerife starts here

Garachico and its lava pools, the Chinyero badlands, the laurel forest of Anaga, Punta de Teno, Teide by two different roads. The whole north fits into a week from this door.
