Playa de El Bollullo
A wild black-sand cove below the El Rincón cliff, 200 m by 40, with volcanic stacks rising out of the sea. A few minutes down a stepped path, or a 45-minute walk from Puerto de la Cruz.

Complejo Playa Jardín
Puerto de la Cruz's icon, designed by César Manrique: three linked black-sand beaches with gardens, waterfalls and rock caves. Breakwaters shelter the bathing area. The north's fully serviced beach.
Sendero Rambla de Castro
The most rewarding coastal walk in the north: 4.36 km each way, easy going, no serious climbs, through palm groves, cliffs and heritage — the Castro family manor, the San Pedro viewpoint and the ruins of the Gordejuela water lift, home to the first steam engine used to raise water in Tenerife.
Barranco de Ruiz
A ravine between San Juan de la Rambla and Los Realejos, a Site of Scientific Interest, where the shift from heath woodland to laurel forest is unusually easy to see. A picnic area with parking sits at the entrance. The closest short, cool stop to Icod along the TF-5.
