Getting to Icod de los Vinos
Tenerife has two airports, at opposite ends of the island. For Icod, the northern one is noticeably more convenient, although most international flights land at the southern one.
Tenerife North (TFN)
It sits in San Cristóbal de La Laguna and handles inter-island and domestic flights — Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Bilbao. From there you join the TF-5 motorway directly and come along the north coast through La Orotava, Los Realejos and San Juan de la Rambla. It is the natural route.
Tenerife South (TFS)
If you land in the south, you have two options: take the southern motorway up and cross at La Laguna to join the TF-5, or cross the island on the west side via Guía de Isora and Santiago del Teide and drop into Icod on the TF-82. The second is shorter in kilometres but slower; the first is motorway nearly all the way.
Without a car
Icod has a bus station with lines to Puerto de la Cruz, La Orotava, La Laguna and Santa Cruz in one direction, and Garachico and Buenavista in the other. We have not been able to verify whether a direct line runs between Icod and the airports, so use the TITSA route finder rather than trusting a list.
